Mohan Lal Sukhadia, born into a Jain family in Jhalawar, Rajasthan, had a cricketing father. After early education in Nathdwara and Udaipur, he pursued electrical engineering in Mumbai. As General Secretary, he led a stand against inviting the Bombay Governor, opting for the Chief Minister instead, marking his early leadership.

He engaged with national leaders and initiated discussions on British rule’s impact and socio-economic reforms. An inter-caste marriage to Indubala faced societal challenges.
