Gulab Chand Kataria, born on October 13, 1944, is an Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He currently serves as the 29th Governor of Assam since February 15, 2023. Kataria has held various ministerial positions in the Rajasthan Government and is a prominent BJP leader in the state. He represented Udaipur in the 9th Lok Sabha from 1989 to 1991.
Kataria was also the President of the BJP’s Rajasthan state unit and served as the Leader of Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly.
Gulab Chand Kataria, a prominent Indian politician affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), served as Rajasthan’s Home Minister from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2014 to 2018. During the Bhero Singh Shekhawat government from 1993 to 1998, he held the position of Education Minister. Additionally, Kataria represented Barisadri as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from 1993 to 2003. His extensive political career also includes serving as the 29th Governor of Assam since February 15, 2023. With his deep involvement in state and national politics, Kataria remains a significant figure within the BJP.

He completed his early education in Udaipur and passed the Higher Secondary Examination in 1960. After that, he enrolled at Udaipur University and obtained his Bachelor’s degree in 1970. Later, in 1968, he pursued a B.Ed degree and in 1975, he completed his Law (LLB) degree.
