Dr. Prem Bhandari, a native of Udaipur, grew up in the city and developed a strong affinity for music. He attained a master’s degree in both Sociology and Music. His academic journey led him to pursue a Ph.D. in the specialized field of ‘Ghazal Gayaki in Hindustani Classical Music.’ This choice was widely recognized as a unique and commendable subject, receiving praise and acknowledgment from eminent figures such as Pt. Ram Narayan (sarangi virtuoso), Naushad (renowned music director), Gulzar (esteemed writer and poet), and Jagjit Singh.

Dr. Prem Bhandari Achievements

With a Ph.D. in music, he is also a singer and a composer. He is a regular performer on AIR and Doordarshan in the B high grade. Besides this, an approved poet (Hindi and Urdu) for these two mediums.

He has graced numerous musical concerts across India as a vocalist, including his participation in the Acharya Brahspati Sammelan (Mumbai) hosted by Sur Singar Samsad. Alongside his vocal prowess, he has ventured into composition, creating musical pieces for short films, a corporate anthem for Hindustan Zinc Ltd., the Sanstha geet of Maharana Mewar Foundation in Udaipur, and lending his musical expertise to 25 full-length theatrical productions under the direction of renowned figures such as Baba Karant, Bhanu Bharati, and Mangal Saxena.

Moreover, Dr. Prem Bhandari has embarked on his own musical journey by releasing several albums. Notably, his collection of Urdu ghazals titled “Jheel Kinare Tanha Chand,” authored by himself, has garnered recognition and acclaim from eminent poets in both India and Pakistan. Driven by his multifaceted talents, he has left an indelible mark across these diverse domains of the musical realm.
