Beautiful Gardens of Udaipur

The garden city of Rajasthan is another name for Udaipur. Everybody wants to find some leisurely, tranquil time in this busy metropolis. AA spot adjacent to lush foliage and a clean, quiet environment. All that can be attained by serene environs— perfect for morning/ evening walks, meditation, exercise, family outings, meeting with your beloved, and a peaceful afternoon nap under the tree shade.

Saheliyon Ki Bari

Best time to visit: October to February
Opening/ closing time: 9 am to 7 pm
Location: Panchwati, Udaipur, Rajasthan

Saheliyon ki Bari (Courtyard of Maidens) is one of the famous tourist attractions of Udaipur. It was constructed in the 18th century by Maharana Sangram Singh alias Rana Sanga for their regal ladies. It featured pavilions, elephant sculptures, fountains, lotus ponds, trees, and flowers. Later, Maharana Bhupal Singh modified the garden by ornamenting it with cascading rain fountains bought from England in the 19th century.

Maharana Fateh Singh rebuilt the garden close to Fateh Sagar Lake after the flood. A modest museum with art and antiques included. It is 15 minutes from City Palace and is accessible by private taxi, car, or cab.

Maharana Pratap Memorial Lake

Best time to visit: October to February
Opening/ Closing time: 9.00 am to 6.00 pm
Location: Near Fateh Sagar Lake, Zinc Park, Udaipur
Ticket: 30 INR for Indians, 50 INR for foreigners, 120 INR for car parking

Maharana Pratap Memorial Park enlightens the legacy of the Mewar dynasty. The tower features a bronze statue of 16th-century Maharana Pratap with his beloved horse Chetak. History states that Chetak got heavily injured during the battle against the Mughals but saved the king’s life. This park includes small gardens in memory of various Mewar rulers— a Japanese rock garden, waterfall, Hall of Heroes museum, scriptures of Kumbhalgarh, and Chittorgarh fort. It is a tobacco-free zone, so keep that in mind.

Saheliyon ki Bari is to the south of it. It takes 20 minutes to walk up to the hilltop, or you can drive and pay the parking fee. A Hindi light and sound performance every day at 7.30 pm.

Gulab Bagh

Best time to visit: September to March

A renowned garden of Udaipur is Gulab Bagh (The Rose Garden). It is the largest garden in the city with the oldest zoo. Adjacent to the park is a rented-out first library of Udaipur. So, in one place you get a lot to experience.

Maharana Sajjan Singh established it in the 19th century and it is a popular place for morning walks. It features roses, medicinal plants, a fountain, a food court, an open-air gym, a bird enclosure, a miniature train, and a kid’s play zone. It also attributes handwritten scriptures and manuscripts in 500 old library— Saraswati Bhawan Library. You can also visit the Vintage and Classic Car Museum at walking distance.

Doodh Talai Garden

Best time to visit: November to February
Opening/ closing time: 9 am to 10 pm, music show @ 7.00 to 7.30 pm

Ticket: 20 INR Indian, 30 INR foreigner

Doodh Talai Lake region features Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park and Maniklal Verma Park overlooking the beauteous lake. The starting point is from a ropeway tram to Karni Mata Temple and the sunset view.

Deen Dayal Upadhyay Park is famous for its musical fountain, boating, and camel ride along the lakeside. Mainklal Verma Park bestows awestruck views of Lake Pichola and Doodh Talai.

Nehru Park

Best time to visit: September to February

Location: Fateh Sagar Lake, Vasupujy Complex, 5, Mewar Motor Link Rd, Udaipur
Ticket: 15 INR for child and 30 INR for adult Indians, For foreigners, 60 per child and 125 per adult

It is the best garden as the travel mode is super exciting for kids. It occupies a small island of Fateh Sagar Lake that you can reach via motorboat, but it runs only when the water level is not high. It is a ferry for nature lovers, magnificent fountains, statues, and a splendid garden with a cafeteria. Best for a family picnic or small get-together.

Rajiv Gandhi Park

Best time to visit: October to February
Opening/ closing time: 8 am to 7 pm
Location: HMW6 + JQ7, Rani Road, Fateh Sagar Lake, Udaipur
Ticket: 5 INR for all

It is the busiest garden in the city. Locals love jogging, running, playing, and exercising here. It fills you with energy. If you are traveling, you can relax for some leisure time. It has a Lotan Magri (Rolling Mountain) with cushioned grass. People click photos here with the rolling mountain and have fun with friends.

How to Reach Udaipur Gardens?

A well-known tourist destination, Udaipur is easily accessible by air, train, and other modes of public transportation. Since most gardens are in urban areas, you may go there by taxi, car, or tour bus. But since Nehru Garden is an island, getting there requires a watercraft from the banks of Fateh Sagar Lake.

Although Udaipur is a well-connected city, getting about might be complicated, especially if this is your first time here. Make the most of your vacation by getting a private cab.
